Ormond Stand Last Night

Recommended Posts

Took my grandson to the match so went in there for a change.

£15 total to get in, £2.10 for a reasonably decent and hot pie, £1.00 for a cup of irn bru. £18.10 plus possibly £5.00 tops for fuel - extremely good deal given the decent standard of football the sides served up in freezing temperatures and rain. So well done to Saints for that.

Is there a drawback? Of course there is, you have to sit in with St. Johnstone fans and they are almost as bad whinging, delusional half wits as our real derby opponents. And the language from the group of prepubescent Perth prats behind me was appalling, and me a sensitive soul that neither shouted nor swore once during the match too

Would I go in there again? Probably not but would recommend it to anybody that wants to take kids along for a reasonably priced day at the football.

Slightly unrelated but I thought our end being PATG last night really helped the atmosphere. The 2 games last season were as poor an atmosphere at Perth as I can remember. Boys being able to sit together and have a sing song and gather in the corner to have a bit of back and forth with the Saints fans helped.

Totally agree.

And lower the quality and risk getting relegated.

I don't think the balance between cost and product is spot on at the moment and it is too expensive for what we're being served up. But you're right, if we reduce prices the first thing to suffer will be quality on the park. I think we're two quality players away from a side that will compete for top six and if getting those players means paying a bit extra we shouldn't complain. If we get there I really believe the fans will come along regardless of the cost.

If we need to price 500 Dees out of the ground to provide Hartley with a better budget, I'd rather we didn't do it.

There's always a risk of relegation, no matter what budget we have. Look at the state United are in despite having the third or fourth biggest budget in the league.

The latest wage budgets I can find are for 2013/14. Ross County show that clever recruitment can make up for a limited budget.
