Greg Stewart Won’T Leave Dundee For Cheap, Insists Paul Hartley

Recommended Posts

Dundee boss Paul Hartley insists it would take a ‘big’ offer to prize strike asset Greg Stewart away from Dens Park.

The gaffer says the club have no intention of selling Stewart but is realistic and understands that, because of his stellar performances, he will attract attention.

And with 18 months left on his deal with the Dark Blues, and no new offer on the table, the player’s value will seriously decrease by the time next summer comes around.

But that’s not something going through the manager’s head. He’s desperate for the club to hang on to his man, insisting “Dundee are not a selling clubâ€. He said: “It would take a big offer if it came.

“But as we have said before, we are not a selling club — we really don’t have to sell.

“I’m sure clubs have been watching him and following his progress over the last year or so.

“I think the lad obviously has ambitions also but we want to keep our best players here.â€

There may well  be ongoing talks, these things aren't generally shouted from the roof tops until its all done and dusted.

You might well be right but that article suggests the club have stated there is no new offer on the table. Not sure why we'd say that if we were actively looking to extend his contract.

I've not got a clue tbh but I wouldn't be using the papers to base anything on. The club could be saying one thing and doing another, it wouldn't be the first time.

My gut says the club will be looking to sell him, hopefully we'll keep a hold of him until the summer but I think FPS will be looking to recoup some of their cash. Can't really blame them much as I'd like to keep Stewart for a good few years.

You are right in saying that we don't really know what's going on. All we can do is try to read between the lines.

This January I think we need to either extend his contract or sell him. The comments in the paper suggest the club isn't in a hurry to do either, but like you say we don't know for sure.
