There was an article in the Evening Tele a few year back. I'm sure it was crazily in favour of United and more of a takeover. We were to play in Tangerine, at Tannadice and be called Dundee City.

That's my understanding of it as well. A bit like Inverness Caley and Thistle. It was called a merger but effectively a takeover.

We must have been in really bad shape for Peter Marr to agree to that. Strangely though that all came just before the Bonetti era. I don't know how we could go from financial meltdown and almost losing our club to spending millions bringing in quality players from around the world.

Agreed.

If there really was a new badge and strips etc they would have been seen by now.

No one has ever seen them because they don't exist.

Why would the former SPL chief go public with a claim that the deal was done and there was a new badge and strips in place if it wasn't true? For a start, he'd quickly be made to look like an idiot if Peter Marr or someone from United or the SPL board came out and said he was lying.

He's given an interview to the BBC and I don't see anyone rushing to contradict him.

I imagine the reason we never saw the badge and strip is because the people involved wanted to bury the story as soon as it was decided to call off the deal, given the strength of feeling among fans on both sides.

Entirely plausible but that it didn't happen is the main thing.  :)

I hate to burst your bubble there, Cobra...

but...

"...when contacted by Courier Sport yesterday, Marr said: “It’s total nonsense.

The former Dens supremo also brushed off suggestions about a new badge and kit saying: “If there was, I never saw it.†"
