Recommended Posts

Dundee FC players made their annual visit to Ninewells Hospital on Tuesday. I don't know just how much of this, DFC players are involved in this kind of thing ...or whether it's restricted to occasions, such as

the festive season. But when I talk (as I often do) about interaction between Club & Fans, this is exactly what I am talking about.

It should be a regular thing. And not necessarily hospitals during the "caring season". Regular visits to Schools, Junior Football &

Social Clubs, would not only be PR exercise, that would give the kids & adults a lift, it would (imo) have exactly the same affect on

the Players & the Club. Surely the potential benefits to DFC would far outweigh the small additional costs and possible inconvenience.

It is about (imo) just giving a little back. But it is also about, not just showing your appreciation, but making a wee bit effort to develop

a better understanding & connection to existing fans & supporters. Potential DFC supporters of the future. Common sense really. :)

Even parents that are NOT interested in football, will quickly pick up on any orgaisation that tries a bit harder to engage their children.

And as already said I see this as a 2- way benefit (maybe 4-way) to...Potential Fans/The Players/DFC, & ALL associated at the Club.

It's a shame things like this are only for the festive season.

The kids party and the signing were great successes.

I know the shop was open, but they missed a trick by not having things for sale in the room of the signing itself.

I'll bet some o' the players went along reluctantly, seeing it more as a "duty" than as something they might enjoy.

But withoot even beng there, or in anyway involved, I guarantee that not only did they awe enjoy theirselves, I bet

they all felt the better for it.The idea o having things at hand for sale would have been an added bonus for the kids

& the Club. But it's in the time ahead that the real rewards arrive, when the bairn (and family) decide to go to Dens.
