Liam Kennedy: Kevin Thomson Gap Impossible To Fill For Dundee

Recommended Posts

The last match Dundee won was on October 3.

It’s no surprise that was the last time a fully-fit Kevin Thomson started in the Dark Blues’ midfield.

The skipper was patched up to start one other game in the period since and it turned out to be Paul Hartley’s men’s most remarkable result of their unremarkable run of one win in 10 and no win in their last seven — the 1-1 draw at Tynecastle.

It seems to me that no matter who is asked to take on the ex-Scotland international Thomson’s responsibilities, the gap he leaves is impossible to fill. His class in the squad is simply unparalleled.

Over the last two seasons, injury has robbed the captain of far too many minutes. For that reason it’s unlikely he’ll get a new deal. But the team will certainly miss him if he goes.
