Fao.......... Joe Covenant (And Maybe Others)

(Apologies if this is on the wrong bit of the forum)

Helllo Joe ............  I would just like to comment on your post on Dundee Mad, directed to shaded (and possible others) with regard to him (and possibly others) coming to The Dark Blues.

I think it is a well thought through excellent post, which I genuinely hope, gets the positive reaction and response, it deserves.

Since leaving mad, I have not felt inclined to post at all, but have tried (I hope successfully) not to be too negative about the site on this forum ........ I still pop over to look on a daily basis. And to say it is struggling, is an understatement.

I can understand the loyalty many long established members have to mad, but it must be frustrating for them as well, to see the way their site is now, after the years of work time they have all put into it.

What can we do to persuade them to give this site a try ? I am sure they would get a very big welcome from all of us.

If they could take the step, it would not only benefit them, it would possibly be another step for us.

I don't think there *is* anything we can do to 'make' them cross over.

But I can totally understand the reticence of someone who has basically 'helmed' a forum to suddenly be just another poster playing to someone else's rules.

That said, (taking 'Shaded' as a prime example) the guys who did run the promotions and collections etc etc will doubtless have the respect of most of the posters who have made it over here anyway (Trolls aside) and even though there would be a loss of 'status' there would certainly be no loss of respect. That said, I would also understand it if they did not want to do so for a different site... (but that's opening up a debate which could be a huge can o' worms.)

My thoughts are basically this - if Shaded came over he would be greeted and treated the same as any other poster. If he came over and was willing to fulfil the same fundsraising role that he did in DM then that same respect would be piled upon him.

(Sorry to use Shaded as an example... it's just far the easiest way to portray what I mean!)  :)

I just nipped over to Dee Mad and posted to Shaded about the fact that he is more than welcome to continue his work over here, but apparently, my account has been frozen and I am not allowed to post.

Anyway, Shaded, contact me if you would like to continue me I will be more than willing to help you in anyway I can.

Hmac, come over and make some new friends as well ;)

Good lad, making the effort is important. Keeping these guys involved is ultimately more important for the club than the fact that everyone is on this forum.

Last year I offered to shaded to do to Dee Mad what I have done here, but I believe Shaded's hands were tied and it couldn't be done.

It saddens me what has happened to DeeMad,

Hello Joe ........From your post ........"don't think there *is* anything we can do to 'make' them cross over"

This of course was a response to something I said in my opening post...........and frankly, I agree totally with you here now.

I might even go further and ask .......  if they really do need a lot of persuasion in to come over to just at least try The Dark Blues, maybe it is the case, this forum is not for them, or they are not for this forum.

I am not at all sure why I did say ....."What can we do to persuade them to give this site a try ?" ...... It was the wrong thing to say !!

What did frustrate me was, when I did pop over to see mad recently, was the attitude of the board to this site (as shown by Admin's post) ..... and the further frustration I felt for those posters on there, who may or may not heard of our new board, but were not sure, what it was called, or how to find it.

I understand a new forum is going to take time to be known about and established. But I also feel that if there was a better way to publicise it, I do believe that the bigest majority of new members, would be more than pleased with what is on offer.      Well done Admin and Staff.

Has any others any views on a way to further publicise ?        Or should the site be left to grow at it's own pace ......... in a natural way ?

(PATIENCE HAS NEVER BEEN ONE OF MY QUALITIES)

I personally have never looked on Mad now since posting here. I was never a prolofoc poster there but looked in several times a day.

Really hope Shaded does move over here, he should be too well respected to loose any face over it. I know everyone would continue to support his fundraising efforts for which he is a legend. Hmac is another one I would like to see here. He was always a really good poster on Dee mad, good opinions and a Dee through and through.

Yes dodgy' Agree.         There are many very good DFC supporters, fans, fundraisers, who would be made more tham welcome on our site (not meant to sound patronising) and those who posted on mad on  a very regular basis, would probably find on here, with the growing numbers of enthusiastic DFC members, they could get into good dialogues/discussions, which is missing in Dundee Mad (not gloating about their present situation)
