Motherwell 3-1 Dundee: Winless Streak Continues

Motherwell gave themselves a much-needed Ladbrokes Premiership boost with a 3-1 win over Dundee at Fir Park, as Paul Hartley’s men endured their eighth game without a win.

Scott McDonald gave the home side the lead in the fifth minute with fellow striker Louis Moult adding a second on the half-hour mark with a header after earlier hitting the post.

The Taysiders shrugged off their first-half inertia and in the 68th minute substitute Gary Harkins, on for Rory Loy just after the break, reduced the deficit with a deflected strike.

But the points were clinched in the 90th minute after Well midfielder Stephen Pearson and Dees counterpart Paul McGowan fought for a cross from substitute David Clarkson with the ball ending in the net.

Dundee have now gone eight games without a win and manager Paul Hartley bemoaned another slow start to the game.

Hartley said: “It was disappointing. It was a bad start to the game and we have given ourselves a mountain to climb over the last few weeks.

“We didn’t start the game well enough, didn’t defend and the goals we gave away were poor.

“I expected to rally because the first-half performance wasn’t good enough.

“We said to the players at half time that we have to try to get back into the game and we passed up good situations.

“We are on a bad run, no doubt about it, so we have to try and get ourselves a win.â€
