So What's On The Christmas Menu .... & Are Ye In Or Oot ?

First of awe .... ehm in. !!  Myself, wife,  daughter & grandson (Small Gathering) And a kind of Traditional Fare

Home-made Broth to start, with fresh baked rolls.    Trying for the first time in my life, a Free Range Goose, with

home made again, sage, thyme, apple, onion, bacon & pork stuffing. Gravy made wi giblets, goose gravy and the

stock of the varied veg, which eh cook in minimum of water.  Sweet is simple, Christmas Pudding & Double Cream.

Also, nae choice on the tattie front, King Edwards, roasted in the goose fat.  And although I'm no sure if this will go

with above, I'm adding some o meh Yokshire Puddings.     It will be an alcohol-free Xmas. Well certainly for me

Eh mind (a long time ago) when eh wisnae lang merried and eh had never met my wife's dad

(That's anither long, complicated story)  But my wife had nae seen him either for many years.

Anyway he invited himself up for Xmas Dinner (Aye he wis that kind o man)  & that year we had

decided tae try DUCK. To be honest, there wis hardly any edible meat on it .... once roasted  &

awe the fat melted awa, eh had a bit o a job, finding the meat on the bone !! I scraped awa whit

eh could (barley enough for three plates) Seemed meh faither-in law wis a man o very few words

We awe cleaned oor plates, And stupidly, eh asked him, if he enjoyed it ?  "It wis awe right" he

said, "I'll hae some mair !!"  Went ben the kichen & basically scraped whit wis left on the bones!!

He wisnae too pleased. But there again neither wis eh. He never came back at Xmas ever again.

Needless to say though, he was never, ever, given the opportunity

That roasted goose turned oot special.

Well  ahead of turkey, duck or chicken.

Although it didnae have loads o' meat,

what it had wis tasty, juicy, succulent.

Dark Meat.  Very Rich in Flavour

The usual kind o' night....2.00 am & cannae sleep.

Fed up reading meh book. Started thinking aboot,

how eh made a right pig o' mehsel on Xmas day 

The guilt then, really pit me right aff meh sleep !! 

So  got up & had a BIG GOOSY SANDWICH  !!   

Maist o meh best ideas come during the night !!
