Five Of The Best Moments For Dundee Fans In 2015

Recommended Posts

After the glorious high of returning to the top-flight last year, 2015 has been a mixed bag of emotions for Dundee FC.

The year started and ended in the worst way possible. A 6-2 annihilation by United on New Year’s Day and a 5-2 drubbing ended the footballing year at Ross County.

But a lot has happened in between. Here are five of the highlights of 2015 from the Dens Park side.

In their first season back in the top league, the Dee achieved an extraordinary feat by reaching the top six. Much was made about Hamilton’s efforts throughout the season, but the Dark Blues pipped them to the post before the split.

Derby win

Yes, Dees won’t ever be allowed to forget the 6-2 humping, the 3-0 defeat on the last day of the season and they’ll look back on the remarkable 2-2 draw with glee, but the victory over United in April will live long in the memory. A Cierzniak howler and a rare goal from Paul Heffernan will be particular highlights for fans in the first derby win in over 10 years.

Julian Speroni testimonial

It’s not everyday your team are invited down to take on a side from the English Premier League in an all-star game. So when Dundee took part in Julian Speroni’s Testimonial at Selhurst Park, they lapped it up. Around 2,000 Dees travelled down to London and were lauded as the â€˜best away fans ever witnessed at Selhurst’.

Opening day win at Kilmarnock

What’s happened since the opening day has been more or less forgettable but at the time it Dees were in their element. Dundee tore Killie apart in a 4-0 victory. Greg Stewart and Rory Loy both bagged braces as Paul Hartley’s new-look side ran riot. Since then, fans haven’t really seen their side peak that performance.

Greg Stewart

Highly-rated Stewart has been on of Dundee’s star performers. He may have gone off the boil a bit recently, but he can produce a bit of magic from nowhere. Most of his goals have been screamers and his left-foot curlers from the edge of the box have become something of a trademark.
