Dundee Boss Hartley ‘Under No Illusions’ Ahead Of Partick Trip

Paul Hartley has challenged his side to build on their recent Dundee derby win by triumphing away to Partick Thistle in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Saturday.

The Dark Blues travel to Firhill still buoyed by their 2-1 victory over United at Dens on January 2 when they came from behind to get 2016 off to a flyer. Hartley’s side face a tough 90 minutes against in-form Thistle in Maryhill this weekend, with their manager urging them to kick on from their derby-day win by getting the better of Alan Archibald’s men.

Hartley said: “We had a good result in our last game and naturally we want to take things on from there. It’s another big game and the boys are looking forward to it. Thistle had a hard start to the season but since then I think Alan’s proved he’s a very good manager.

“Looking at things, they’re on a good run of form at the moment and are hard to beat so we’re under no illusions. We’ve never had an easy game against them and we’re expecting another hard one this time round. All credit to the lads for us having a good result in our last game, but that’s in the past now and we will be trying to get another three points in the league at what’s always a difficult place to go at the best of times.â€

Dundee face a tough run of fixtures in their pursuit of a top-six place but Hartley maintains they cannot look any further forward than their meeting with Thistle.

He said: “We will be giving Thistle our full attention. That’s the way it always is with us and we’ll never change. We know a few wins can make all the difference in terms of the league. But we can’t afford to be looking too far ahead because the next one is always the most important one. The lads have had a good week’s training under their belt and are raring to go.â€

The Dee will travel to Glasgow without Kevin Thomson. A shock announcement from the side revealed he had left the club earlier today.

As each game comes along, we all seem to agree this is another important game for DFC.

So it's no surprising to hear PH thinks the same way. The tightness of this Division means,

a few points lost (or gained) can make a big difference to just about every Club at this time.

If we can build a cushion between us & those at the bottom, to be honest, that would do me.

I certainly don't want to see us go through the rest of rhe season worrying about every game.

Ph & players will be well aware of this. So they should be primed & ready to give their best :)
