Not Playng Politics Here. But Govt. Money For "facial Recognition System" ?

Recommended Posts

Scottish Footbal to ask (or in negotiation) for £2m. from Scottish Govt. towards "Face Recognition System"

I don't know too much about this, but I am not sure it's the Govt's responsibility.....Any views on this issue ?

If there is £2m spare to help (promote) Scottish Football,I can think of better ways to spend it. Even if it is as

basic as help to improve, grounds/facilities........TV Service Even !!

"The league governing body is determined to take a firm stance on sectarian singing, the use of flares and other offensive behaviour, and believes the scheme could be effective following incidents involving Celtic, Rangers and Dundee United supporters." .............. haha in wi the ugly sisters.

Would sooner the SFA recognised what a backbone is, might be more useful for Scottish football.

In the background I've got BBC Scotland (phone-in twitering awa).  Just started.

Coincidentally about above and...."The bad behaviour of Scottish Football Fans.

As you say Bloomogg, when it suits, they like to include ALL us Football Fans.

The first comment acknowledges this. And the first call sees no need for above.

I am no going to give a running commentary on this "phone-in"...

Because to be honest I very rarely listen to it (Diinae like Kay?)

Anyway, they spent some time talking aboot the trouble at the

Linlithgow v Forfar game last night.  & eh wisnae aware o' this.

So maybe there are ither problems (at times) with some clubs.

Still (imo) disnae justify the Scottish Govt, handing oot £2m. ;)

£2M is small change to sort out the issue IMO.

2 million quid from the Scottish government to introduce a facial recognition system at the football to stop a problem that is absolutely minute in proportion to the amount of people that attend the football after the same Scottish government has just cut Dundee City Council's budget by around 23 million quid?

The SFA; SPL and SPFL have been pussy footing around sectarian singing at matches for too long. They have the power to punish clubs but don't really. When were Celtic and Rangers last deducted points for sectarianism at their games? Flares are another problem in preventing as I believe they are the size of a cigarette lighter so hard to detect but points deduction MAY make some fans think again before bringing them to the game. There are more important things for our government to be spending money on, especially with another global financial crisis apparently around the corner.

Load of sh**e.

The big issue in Scottish football is sectarianism. This issue is almost 100% the sole preserve of 2 clubs.

If these 2 clubs are serious about stopping sectarianism (as they continually state they are) then, for clubs of that size, the cost of this facial recognition should be a relatively small but 100% worth it outlay. It would then be incumbent upon them to police their own support at away games. There is nothing Dundee FC can do to stop fans singing sectarian bile at Dens short of having stewards immediately eject any offenders. In order to do this the police would need to be heavily involved due to the propensity of these 2 supports for violence. Cletic/Rangers fans all need a season ticket to buy a ticket. They should log which ST holder has bought which ticket and film the crowd for 90 mins. The offenders will be identifiable and confirmed with seat number and should be immediately banned with their Season ticket revoked. It is that simple. Will they do it?  Nope. these bigots are their repeat customers and the love the money generated by the sectarian angle.

This is not a Scottish football problem. It's an Old Firm problem. Trying to lump Utd fans in with that lot to make it seem a bigger issue for lighting 1 smoke bomb is a disgrace  - simply a way for the powers that be to avoid planting the blame squarely at the feet of the ar** cheeks.

Sooner they did transfer window ban than points reduction, hurts clubs more. Transfer ban for one window, offend again rolls onto next one sort of thing, now that would hurt.

£2M for crime prevention is money used pretty sensibly i'd say.

Banning orders would be property enforced so would actually be worthwhile.

Think it is impossible to stop the problems associated with sectarianism which is ascribed to the singing of songs. See PSG has decided to have an anthem based on the tune of Flower of Scotland. Their words, great tune. Why don't all clubs do the same?
