News: Greg Stewart Set To Tie Up New Dundee Deal

As well as working on a new deal for their manager, Dundee are set to reward striker Greg Stewart for a fine start to his Dens career.

Stewart joined up only in the summer from Cowdenbeath after signing a pre-contract agreement late last season.

Although not regarded as an out-and-out goalscorer, he’s netted seven times in 16 appearances so far.

And he’s impressed when being used in wide areas as well as a alongside David Clarkson through the middle.

That’s prompted the Dark Blues to talk to him about upping his terms.

He certainly has earned an improved contract. I'm guessing being a young unproven player when he signed from Cowdenbeath, he wouldn't be on a very big wedge just now. Just shows what you can do if you are willing to work hard. Maybe Roberts should take note.

More good news. Has turned out to be an excellent signing.

Still hasnt convinced me fully Im afraid, hope he proves me wrong though. The chance he had on Saturday sort of sums him up gets into great positions but either final pass or shot is poor. And Im still haunted by that Penalty miss.

If he didn't have the propensity to miss chances such as that, he'd have left Cowdenbeath to a bigger club than Dundee much sooner than he did move.

I used to regularly bemoan the fact that we were unable to unearth diamonds from the part-time teams, then Hartley comes along and quickly signs Stewart, McGinn and Bain, three outstanding talents that most clubs in Scotland would want on their books.

Still a young player with a lot to learn and I like the fact that we are trying to hold on to players now rather than just let their contracts run out and lose them.

Spot-on Cobra. All three players mentioned have greatly improved our team.
