ken the lad,s played in midfield before,an get the feeling he,d burst a gut in that position.

As some posters ken, i,ve been saying for some time he should be getting a gemme.

Cannae be any worse than whit we,ve got in midfield.

Personally I'd prefer a big, tough player in there with plenty composure and experience. Not easy to find so any two of the four things is what's needed - Cammy's a great prospect but he isn't any of those things right now so it's a no from me.

Not really convinced. I'm all for getting a bit of presence in midfield but they also need to be good players who are composed enough and can play the position well.

Kerr did well last night putting himself about but I think it's fair to say that he needs to work on slowing down a bit sometimes and maybe just being a bit smarter in possession. It will come but when his game is based on his energy and aggression in holding his wing, I think he'd get dragged about too easily in the middle and just isn't the sort of footballer suited to it.

I'd also disagree that our midfield is that bad that any sort of change would improve it. McGowan and Ross are not ideal but I do think we can do worse and although I'd like to change things, I think we should be careful about just throwing anyone in and hoping for better. McGowan isn't an out and out defensive midfielder but he at least has raked up quite a few games in that position and he is a competitor. Ross is not suited to where he has been playing but I think he does offer more than would appear at times. Off the ball, his movement is very good and he always seems to appear in the right place for a pass and in general he's a pretty neat footballer who thinks pretty sharp (which I think is maybe his down fall as he makes certain things look very easy) and if you watch back a few of our goals, he's often contributed to some of them with holding a pass for the right time and creating space.

Putting Kerr in for McGowan would just be removing a player who's got a lot of experience in these sorts of roles and would just probably give us McGowan 2.0 but much less rounded. Kerr in for Ross might have the illusion in working as it'd probably increase our tackling stats but over the whole piece, I think the loss of Ross' composure could hurt us even more defensively and we'd retain the ball even less and our attackers would receive less meaningful possession.

Agree that we need to do something if we're to fight more consistently with teams like Aberdeen but think it's well worth keeping our heads for now and then getting the right individuals in (i.e. a couple of players like Osman or Draper). Kerr for me has a future as a right back or on the right of midfield IMO.

If it wasn't out with our budget I would take the guy Demel from United for this role  . Great expirience even though he lost the place in the derby and looked their best player i thought ( Not much competition granted ). Also adds good strength to that area and they wont be able to hang on to him once they drop down .

I've a good feeling about Kerr but I'll reserve judgement until I actually see him play a few games at RB this season. The case has yet to be proven as far as I can see.

Good post.

Think a lot of people are going a bit ott with Cammy. He clearly has potential and a great attitude. However he is very inexperienced at this level. Let's give the boy a chance to develop without the pressure of being the answer to a lot of our problems (eg playing DM or LB).

Personally don't rate McGinn so would like to see Cammy given a run of games there in his natural position to see how he gets on.
