See STV chart of DFC attendances in last 20 years in attachment:

STV report that:

Dundee's figures are arguably the most stark reminder of the difference between life in the top flight and life in the second tier. For the years they were an SPL/Premiership side, there is huge increases in their crowds.

While matches against Rangers and Celtic have contributed to that, Dundee also have a city derby match which significantly impacts their crowds. While it is still early in the season, the club are also enjoying their highest average crowd since the 1980s.

The away support visiting Dens average over the past few seasons in the First Division must have been around the 100 to 200 mark.

In the Premier when you take in to account United, Celtic and Aberdeen all near filling the away end, it must be in to 4 figures despite clubs like Hamilton, Ross County and Inverness only bringing a couple of hundred.

Interesting to see our crowd's last season in The Championship averaged higher than the year before in the SPL. Just shows how dreadful we really were that season

Well spotted but i'm pretty positive the figure for 2012/13 in the SPL is wrong.

We still had an average of well over 6,000 that season. Not sure why it's wrong.

edited - just looked it up. Our average was 5,943 that season so the figure is indeed wrong.

To be honest without even focusing on the chart, but more on the topic heading, I think it simply is time DFC and aupporters and fans saw ourselves as a Premiership Club.

Accepted we still have a way to go yet, but there is no doubt, certainly in my mind the wheels are in place.

And more  importantly .........facing the right direction ......... "Onwards and Upwards"

We appear to have an ambitious DFC Board in place, who have an eye on establishing ourselves as one of the top Scottish Clubs, and a top manager in PH, who has the skills and ambitions to get us there ....... And not least, us patient DFC supporters and fans, who are now (imo) ready for the great times ahead.                Consolodation may well be the aim for the next season or two.

But the support is there, waiting and ready for the great days ahead for oor great club with a great history.........C'mon the Dee !!

The figures are remarkable considering the number of years we were on the brink of extinction, our lack of success and our poor results against our City Rivals.

It just shows the love that our fans have for our club, let's help to move the club on to the next level.
