Must admit, I've been looking down it all season but for the first time in a long time, looked up it this morning.

3 points off flying cup finalists Ross County who sit in 4th place on the same amount of games as us.

Not bad going at all, all things considered.

Only 9 points separating 4th and 11th.

Was interesting how at the weekend Mark McGhee was talking about his team being in a relegation dogfight while a Ross County player was talking about his team being focused on a top four finish. I was thinking we're just a few points off both those teams so very much in the mix for top four and bottom two with only a dozen games left.

im always looking down but couldnt believe we were top 6 after sat. A win wouldve gone a long way to easing things.Another 4 or 5 wins this season should see us safe from the bottom 2 anyway !

We seem to have a problem in getting the points to take us above sixth.

We have had numerous chances and have not taken advantage, the reason is obvious our awful defence.

Top six would be better than ideal .....But as long as we keep weel awa fae the danger area, I'll be happy

Billy Davies is reported to be Killies next boss, if true I expect him to generate a revival of some sort.

This will make the league even tighter for the run in.

I will feel a lot happier when we hit the 40 point mark.

We've had unbelievable luck with other results going our way this season, just a pity we've very rarely taken advantage of it, being 1 up at Hamilton and Inverness against 10 men and only drawing being the most notable slip-ups.

Still, despite that, we're only 3pts off 4th, same games played as County, whose next 2 are at home to Hearts next Wednesday and away to Celtic the following Saturday. Couple that with St Johnstone's 1st game in hand being against Aberdeen, a win for us a week on Friday could have us sitting in a very handy position.

Unless one team starts to fall behind, 40 may not be safe until very near the end of the season.

I think 45 would do, just 5 wins in a row (Celtic postponed one excluded)

45 has to be the minimum aim. The season we went down, Hearts finished on 44pts in 10th. The fact that the dabs have been cut adrift is due in part to the whole group above them all picking up points on a regular basis, which could point to 10th place this season being a relatively high points total. Then again, it could point to the whole group robbing points off each other which would point to a lower final total haha

Hopefully I'm wrong but 45 points seems an awful long way to go for this team.

I think anything from 36 could be safety this season.

40-42 will see us safe. If we win two of our next three games against the fermers, Killie and ICT (and avoid losing to Killie) I think we can relax and start worrying about next season's squad.
