Disappointed that this is public discussion. Seemed that last season PH got things dealt with before speculation or that he had to confirm he was in talks.

Wonder if these two players are really important to PH's plans for next year. They have not had a great deal of support from the members on this forum and I wonder if the leak might be the sort of thing that could scupper any deal. We seem to be gradually building a reputation, as a good/professionally run team, and we might be in a stronger position if we walk away from these two?

Very good point BC.

I can't say I know much about them, but I do think (unless there are people pH is *solid* on, that we should be looking at better 'known' players.

Will they cost more, doubtless, but unless we are content to remain a mid-upper bottom side we need those one or two players to round us off.

I'd be very surprised, and disappointed, if PH is thinking if signing anybody who isn't important to his plans. Limited budget etc.

It is unfortunate that it's leaked but in these days of social media it's hard to keep anything under wraps and i'd be surprised if the leak puts any deal at risk. It's not like ICT can scupper the moves. And Hartley has advised ICT of his interest, so perhaps damage limitation from him. Strengthens the feeling of professionalism IMO.

I agree the response has been lukewarm but not sure what calibre of players fans think we can be looking at with a realistic chance of getting. In some ways I'm comforted by being linked to these types of players, maybe cogs in the wheel rather than the wheel itself?

PH seems to have his ideology on players, formation, tactics which are often at odds with the fans. He does it his way.

Aye, you might be right BCram, that the unnamed other 2 are more highly thought of so more effort made to keep it quiet to avoid scuppering the deals.

Social media is a resource I'm sure managers use but i wonder how much store they put by it, as we can see on here the variety of opinions is vast. I suppose it can be the starting point in the process, bring a player onto the radar.
