Have Dfc & Dabs Played At Home On The Same Day ?

We played a league cup at dens v Stranraer I think and the beasters had a friendly v English oppositionat the dump at lunch time.

Yes . Both played in the Scottish Cup.in 1963. Utd played Hearts with a 2 o clock kick off and we played Rangers with a 3 o'clock kick off. Worked well as both sets of fans were in and out at diff times. Don't know why this has never been tried again. Scores were 5-4 Hearts and we drew 1-1 losing the replay 3-2.

We had Rangers at Dens - Attendance 33,000

They had Hearts at the Dump - Attendance 9,021

Memory is a strange thing. I could swear we both played at home same day, they kicked off early...a Saturday. Not the cup game mentioned above. Could have been Ivan's suggestion.

Was later than 1963 more like 1967/8 and we lost the replay 1-4 after extra time if memory serves me well

I'm sure we both played at home in the Scottish cup when I was around 12/13 so would be around 1990/1991 time. I'm sure we kicked off at 2

I remember Ivan's but I'm confused as well because I've got a feeling that there is another game. I had a feeling that it happened when we played Aberdeen in the cup last season but checked it out and seem to have dreamt that.

We played (and lost 1-0) at home to Alloa on the Saturday 8th August 1998 in a League Cup tie at Dens. This was an early kick-off.

They played out a 2-2 draw with Stirling Albion later on that afternoon in the same competition.

So history would suggest that we play our game first @19.45 then they can play Motherwell @23.45.

There was also two cup games on the same day and the visitors were Aberdeen and Stirling Albion. Possibly early 70s and I remember some complaints about the way fans and Aberdeen being blamed as they wore red and white scarves, but as someone pointed out - so did Stirling Albion.
