Much maligned at times but excellent last night.

Nick Ross had his best game for us and Gowser played as well as I can remember. Discussion at the game was maybe KT leaving has had a positive effect on those two in particular....regular games and the chance to have a settled team?

Agree with all that but would like to see Loy dropped for another midfielder to help Ross and McGowan as I still think there is a big space in the middle of the park quite often and I don't think Loy is effective where he's being played.

Ross was good last night but he's got a long way to go before he is classed as what we need.we still need a proper 6ft beast in there to push on next season.also a winger with genuine pace to put the real fear into full backs.

I thought our midfield was quality last night.

Part of that due to st Johnstone being very poor though.

Still think we need a big defensive midfielder.

Not got great options on the bench. It doesn't look like low is going to cut it at Dundee!

Why is that every time we play well, put in a great performance that it has to be down to the opposition being poor?  Same happened with some boys on here first game of season.

St Johnstone for the most part were outplayed last night imo.  They still had a couple of dangerous moments but we didn't give them a chance to settle and we competed for everything going.  Reduced them to lumping the ball.

Was critical of Ross earlier in the season but with the exception of the Motherwell game he's been excellent since the turn of the year. Him and McGowan still need to curb their instinct to go forward at times but the pair of them have been a big part of our improvement.

Think Ross and Gowser are flourishing together since KT left. Ross is really getting stuck in more recently. Stood up to Demel in the derby and was excellent up against Murray Davidson yesterday. Would still like a natural DM in the squad but I'm happy with the current set up.

Yes, we could now be benefiting from having a settled team. Thomson being in one week out the next really disrupted things. We may not ever miss him on that performance...

While ideally I would like a good defensive midfielder or a box to box player. My only real worries about the midfield would be if one of them, particularly Gowser, gets injured and out for several weeks. With the current side I am confident of picking up enough points to stay top six, but with out Gowser I would worry,although it would be an ideal time to test out Curran and/or Colquhoun.

Said to a couple of lads since Friday night that Saints were rubbish.

However they were rubbish because we never let them play, never gave them a minute on the ball and seldom gave them an option to move the ball on quickly. Add in that we were slick going forward and yes, Saints were rubbish, but most of that was down to us playing well, working hard and being (for a change) very organised.

When I was watching the game I was really impressed by the way we were stopping them from getting a foothold in the game. They were 100% committed but were being out-played and out-thought. We won because we were good, not because they were bad.
