In theory the Bosman ruling could cease to apply in the UK but any club trying to keep a player after his contract expired would be sure to be challenged under UK law. The game has adapted to Bosman and the clock will not be turned back.

Karren Brady says two-thirds of European players would not meet automatic non-EU visa criteria and therefore might be forced to leave.

I'd guess nothing tbh.

The free movement of people is actually not to do with the EU but the European Economic Area which is where the free movement of people comes from. Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein are not EU members but are part of this arrangement which means their citizens can settle here and vice versa. Leaving the EU does not mean leaving the EEA and unless government changed very rapidly, I don't see this happening after leaving the EU.

Even if we left the EEA, it's very very likely that we will have to negotiate to be part of the single market anyway so, like Switzerland, we could be outside both the EU and EEA but have the free movement principle remain. There is not going to be any sort of deal that doesn't include free movement of people as it's just simply not possible.

Quotas can come into play in the second scenario but since they can't be applied discriminatory (i.e. blocking certain European countries over another), it will be difficult for them to be used that strongly. Even if they are used, it's entirely possible for them to put provisions in like salaries or maybe even clauses exempting certain industries all together. Any sort of change would still take quite a while to implement anyway as there would be question marks over the legality as our trade deals will still be in the process of being ratified.
