Losing Out Again On Youth Prospects

Recommended Posts

Noticed today that Gary Bollans son has signed for DundeeUnited.

Strange one as he was playing with Dundee youths all season.

Is it because the youths at United have a pathway, or just the fact he will improve by playing at a higher level in the Elite league.

did we offer him a contract?...

Been playing for the Dees all year and believe he was asked to sign on a number occassions without putting pen to paper.

he is only with UTD 17s so not been offered a full time contract.

He has obviously been sold on UTD by someone,  in our case we cant even attract a coach to take over the Academy, let alone bring in any players.

United have a greater amount of resources invested in their youth system and have a decent track record stretching back more than 10 years for this sort of thing. I know they are in a bad situation and that with their first team right now but that alone makes them a better proposition than us.

Then on top of that, the circumstances in this case are that the boys got an association with United too.

Takes a lot of time and pain to work through these things and get them right.

in our case we cant even attract a coach to take over the Academy

Do you sit on the board now? Why make statements like that when you couldn't possibly back them up? All it does is spread discontent for no reason.

There could be a million reasons why we're holding off right now. It isn't necessarily a good thing if we make an appointment like this quickly if it just leads to a repeat of previous issues. The right person/arrangement can take longer. We're still operating as before (based on your statement about asking him to sign several times).

Well he's made his bed now mate, sounds as though he was always going that way.

Good luck with developing in the championship is all I can say.

I have to echo what Harry saying, steady progress is/was the order at our club at the moment, I'm happy with the way things are shaping up.
