There's so many games and teams need to have priorities these days. Teams at that level could play 60 games in a season which is mental. The intensity of the game these days just means they can't keep that level up.

Cutting the Premiership to 18 or even 16 teams would do a lot for English teams in Europe and probably see them more willing to play stronger teams in these sorts of game. Too much money though and the Premiership is just too highly valued for it to be changed like that.

You would be p*ssed off if you travelled to Germany to watch your team's biggest European game in years and you get humped with most of your best players on the bench.

Not to mention the dent in confidence it will undoubtedly have on the "first" team.

Will they have the mettle to deliver a domestic league championship after taking a pounding tonight?

Must be the money I suppose but I just don't see the point in this drawn out tournament. Anyone any idea how much Spurs will get for reaching this stage?
