Youth - The Building Blocks

Double Blue

I'm a bit surprised that the club plan to wait until the summer to make two important appointments for the club. See Courier link below.

When FPS took over they made a big play about developing our own stars of the future. Who is looking over this area at the moment? Surely Hartley cannot be expected to deal with the first team and the fight to get into the top 6 and the youth set up.

I highly doubt Hartley is doing much more work.

Many people are locked in employment right now and the best candidates probably won't be available until the end of the season. I'd imagine some of the candidates are playing senior football or are attached in some other way so the best way to do it would be to wait until the natural turnover time (probably a few weeks before the end of the season) and work on getting everything in place by pre-season.

EDIT: Johnson is still managing the 20s until the summer.

Anyone any news from last night's game with Rangers. Great result. Official just has teams and scorers at this stage. Who was good, bad or indifferent? Naturally thinking mainly about 1st team squad players. We know generally what CW and Low can do. How was Meggatt? Could he come in and do a job sitting behind and supporting Holt? Did Aururo look promising for this year or next season? Notice also Colquhoun seems to have slipped down the list. Maybe an injury.

Being involved in Boys football, what worries me as a Dundee fan is that players who have been identified by the club are choosing to stay at their boys club rather than moving to Dens. Is our system still that bad?

Also, I feel that the way we (and other senior teams) recruit boys into the academy / system is nothing short of shocking, insulting and unprofessional.

Is the club looking down the avenue of the women's / girls game? I've seen articles recently about Utd having a women's side.

Perhaps our neighbours should consider switching around the women's team and their first team for the run-in? 😋

When is Stevie Campbells court case with the dabs due? Could it be there looking at him but cant appoint him until he's settled his issues with the dayglos?

Why not?

He grew up a big Dundee fan and played for the club. Then he got a job across the street, married in tangerine, then celebrated wildly at Dens when the dabs beat us.

I think that's why he's not the most popular figure amongst a lot of Dees.

Good result last night but having since spoken to a mate who is a Hun he reckoned we were playing against the bulk of their u18's squad as 7 of there u20's are out on loan.
