Thought i'd start another Derby thread, we need more! 😀

Seriously though, as a Dee who witnessed many a Derby drubbing through the 70's to 00's I'm surprised to see that the consensus is we have the quality but they have the fighting spirit...changed days indeed!

I'm sure the likes of Bomber, TC, Glennie, Rab, Sincy, Scheadler (RIP), Rafferty et al would have given their eye teeth to be involved in a day like Sunday. Lack of battlinq quality or fighting spirit would not be a worry. Keeping 11 on the park might!

IMO this game will determine their destiny- lose and the escape of hope will be almost physical;win and we all know the script.

They have everything to lose- I hope PH uses that to our advantage and, at the same time, appreciates how important a win is to his team and its fans.

Let's kick on with a win and enjoy the rest of the season. Please.

HK (or others) ..... How nervous or confident are you feeling about this game?  Nobody I think would confidently predict the outcome o' a Derby at any time !!

But this one, because of circumstances, & importance to both Club/supporters, this one  is at another level !! There is gonna be some emotion spent, during

this game & after the final whistle blaws. Even at this stage, eh'm feeling far too drained & jittery. I so much want a win. Please Lads do it & get them DOON.

In my opinion the first 15 minutes will be crucial.

United will come out traps fast and try to dominate us.

If we ride this out I believe we will go on and win. If United score first and early we could be in for a tough day!!

But if we press them high up the park match their fight I believe we have the better players and will pick them off.

I think their tactics are going to be brutal, very aggressive and physical. We've shown we can live with this kind of treatment in several matches this season, it's the games where these tactics have shown us up to be soft touches that worry me. They do have a fair few cloggers in that side, a lot will depend on whether 1) we can compete physically & 2) Steven McLean lets them away with it. Really can't call this one.

United are in the play-offs at best no matter the result of the derby, but it would be nice to see them relegated outright.

Squeaky bum time for both sides of the divide come Sunday, I'm quietly optimistic, and am looking forward to getting up at the crack o farts, couple of bacon and rolls, and a few bottles with my mate who's coming through for it! Wat time can u get a pint on Sunday?

If we can get through the first quarter hour I'll be confident we can get a result.

We didn't concede a single first-half goal in our first seven league games. Since late October we've conceded in the first 15 minutes ten times. We cannot afford to be sleeping when this game kicks off on Sunday.

I'm really confident that it's going to be a win for us. There is FAR more pressure on the dabs than us and iv a feeling they will crumble under the pressure.

Can definitely see us scoring a few and it all depends if we can keep them out the other end.

A tight and edgy, edgy game for me. This probably sounds silly, but getting the kick off will make a bit of a difference. Get the ball, and let guys get on the ball and their first touch and start to settle. 

We have more quality than them and with the added pressure I think it may be too much for them. They have a lot more to lose than us. Like most guys have said, get through the first 15-20 without conceding and we should be en route to a result. 

We need to be composed in the final third and when the chances come, be clinical. A positive stat is that Bain hasn't lost a derby and he seems to make big saves in important games.

There seems to be a few posts about surviving the first 15-20 mins on Sunday, We should be up and at them from the very first whistle get a few tackles in and let them know there in a game.

We seen in the past that there heads go down when they lose a goal so lets not sit back let get it right up them from the start.

None of this sit back for 20 mins and see what happens.

I think there is little pressure on the Dabs - they are in play off at minimum - it is about attiude in derbies then quality on the day with a wee bit of luck.

If our manager and players do not know what to expect by now then we will lose.

GET RIGHT INTAE THEM FROM THE WHISTLE!!!
