What's Not Disappointing?

Pretty clear failing to make top 6 is a disappointment to many of us, especially when coupled with a non-existent league cup run and let-down at Ibrox in the Scottish. B.T.W. this is not negativity, just my interpretation of the key points.

So, what should our target be?

I'd say operating in the top half of the table throughout the season such that we make top 6 let's say 75% of the time.

As for the cups...semi-final every 3 or 4 seasons with a final every 5 or 6 seasons. Silverware once a decade.

A European competition every 5 years thrown in.

I'd say the above is realistic albeit challenging for a club like ours. I 100% get that we've underachieved in cups since the beginning of time but we need to change this. And that we've only been top 4 once since winning the league. But a sustained period in top division - like Kilmarnock's 24 years for example - would help us address that.

Too ambitious? Not ambitious enough?

Probably this type of thing is a season-end topic but feels like that's where we are anyway after Saturday to me. And I know we've not quite confirmed our status yet. But.

As you say yourself HK, maybe all these points should be raised when this season finally ends.

But if it's OK with yourself & others, maybe we could even expand this topic further..... Ambition.

If, as looks likely (although not taking anything for granted) we maintain our position in the Premiership and them doon the road, as expected, head doon towards the lower division, would others not feel disappointed, if ourselves as supporters, and certainly the Club, did not at least put further plans in place, towards establishing Our Club as the leading Premier Club in the City. I feel there may never be a better opportunity. Not because we are showing obvious signs of rapidly becoming a Top Club, but because (imo) we are continuing to make (as your OP reflects) good solid steady progress. Couple this with general disaray the other City Club is in, this could be a golen opportunity for DFC to show real intent & ambition..... I am aware finance is always going to be a problem for us, or any football Club.

We know ourselves from past experience, about survival, and the problems that come from falling down a Division. They may think, once the dust settles, being in the Championship, will give them a chance to re-group, and then the season following, come back ato the Premiership after promotion, a leaner, fitter, better Club.

(Oh aye .... Guid Luck to them and what will be their vanishing supporters wi' that then)

This kind of ambitious suggestion might have sounded better if we had finished in the top bit o' the top six. But as has been already pointed out, point-wise, we are not so far from a top four place. And all this in the space of a couple of seasons. I am NOT dis appointed and I think we are dong a lot better than "just OK".

I know thiis has been raised aboot a million times, so apologies for thrusting this oot again. But wid it no be great (especially at this time) if we the supporters, with the support and backing of the BOD start making a real move towards the buying back of Dens. I am only raising this as an exampleof what we ALL could do. So I would not like this topic to be all about this. But however we do it, I believe this is the time to show we mean business.

Raised something similar a couple of seasons ago....and maybe no surprisingly it got a lukewarm reception.

But jist look doon the road ..."TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING" .... me thinks
