Stirlingshire Cup

Looking to pick brains here (not like a zombie or anything, that would be weird   ), according to the Dumbarton site they're playing East Stirling tonight in this competition but I can't see it anywhere else. A quick look online suggests that this competition exists or did last year anyway but I still don't know why Dumbarton are involved. 

Does anyone know if this is happening tonight, my DAB mate is quite keen on going and as you can imagine, I'm quite keen to catch up with him for some football based 'bantz'.

Dumbarton have always played in it (not sure why but maybe just historical). Had the same confusion a year ago when going to a game in similar circumstances a year and checked it up.

It's confirmed on a both official club twitter feeds and you can get a bit more evidence from it if you search

and in response to someone checking out whether the pitch is bookable for tonight (it's a 3G and they rent out the facilities)

Think you should be fairly safe (although don't call the team 'East Stirling', it makes the locals very agitated). Hopefully you see Hartley there doing a bit of scouting, I can imagine him at every match in Scotland.

Thanks Harry, I had a rummage around the internet and seen a few bits to confirm the Dumbarton statement, bit weird that its not more 'out there', at least on the East Stirling site.

Its a nice ground, I've been a few times over the years, not to see us though.

I think that St Johnstone has previously played in the Forfarshire Cup despite Perth being the county town of Perthshire.
