Panic Buying

Recommended Posts

Thanks to panic buying of tickets for the forthcoming derby on Monday 2nd May this morning I was forced for the first time ever to purchase my ticket for the Main Stand by phone.

Fortunately the process was painless and the person in the club ticket shop was very helpful to a novice like me.

Thank goodness that yesterday someone posted on the forum that the South Enclosure was sold out and the Bobby Cox was nearly sold out apart from the Family Section.

Fortunately there are still plenty of tickets available for the Main Stand where I normally sit.

I would have been gutted if I had travelled from Islay to Dundee and I could not attend the game because it was sold out.

Here is what remains in the home end:

Bobby Cox - 448

Main Stand (Sections D,E,F,G) - 640

Derry - 0

Hopefully see that gone next weekend. Got another 1200 or so in the normal United Main Stand section if we need it but instinct is that it we'll probably not need it.

Any idea what the different sections of the ground hold in terms of numbers, Harry?

Off the top of my head:

Bobby Cox - 3100

Bob Shankly - 3100

South Encolsure - 1800

Main Stand (D, E, F, G) - 2300

Main Stand (A, B, C) - 1200

Not 100% sure on that but it adds up to 11,500 which is about right. The new stands and the Derry have been confirmed on here as those capacities IIRC so it's just the sections of the Main Stands that are the question but I'm pretty sure that it's always been the case that the away part is 1200. I have a feeling though that the Derry's official capacity isn't actually used (even in ticket games) so it might be 100 less or so.

That'd mean we've got around 6000-6100 home fans so far (so around 2000-2500 sales depending on what the actual season ticket numbers are).

Harry - We've sold out our full allocation or came within 100 tickets of doing so for every derby at Dens since promotion in 2014. Have no idea why the OP is describing as panic buying when the home ends are 99 percent or 100 percent full for every derby since 2014.

We will almost certainly sell out our usual allocation and get the additional sections A,B and C unless United somehow miraculously sell out the Shankly first.

I wouldn't call fellow dees buying tickets once they go on sale " panic buying ".

We will easily sell out all 3 ends inc all of the main stand if the dabs can't sell it. So much so that I can see quite a few dees buying tickets for the United end.

This weekend will be telling in terms of sales. Depending on how results go there may be a clamour for tickets from Dees but I would like to think that we will sell out our sections no matter what the results.

Cox and Shankly are 3000 each

Derry is around 1700 these days

Main Stand is around 3800 including away end sections A,B and C which hold somewhere between 1100 and 1200. The Main Stand's 3800 capacity also includes directors box and seats next to tunnel lower tier and hospo sections.
