SPFL chief backs Dundee v Celtic US game

SPFL head Neil Doncaster says his organisation would be willing to back Dundee’s Premiership clash with Celtic in the USA.

The game’s chief executive revealed an application has not yet been lodged with the league but he would seriously consider it, should it come his way.

“If there is a way of taking the game overseas, then we’re duty bound to look at it,” he said.

“Who knows? We need as many people as possible to be watching the Scottish game.

“If we get an application from any of our clubs who might want to do that, then I think we’d have to look at it with an open mind.

“It’s certainly an exciting concept. We know there’s huge interest in North America in Scottish football and I can see why that might be attractive.

“It’s important we take Scottish football around the world as best we can to a new audience.”
