‘No-clause’ Kane Hemmings going nowhere

Recommended Posts

Kane Hemmings will not leave Dundee unless a mega money offer comes in.

The Tele understands, contrary to reports elsewhere, the Englishman does not have a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for a set fee.

As a result, the Dark Blues, as affirmed by manager Paul Hartley at the back end of last season, are under absolutely no pressure to sell.

Reports in the national press earlier this summer suggested former Rangers, Barnsley and Cowdenbeath forward Hemmings, who returned to training at the club’s Dundonald Street indoor base on Wednesday, could walk away from Dens Park should any club meet the £250,000 release clause within his deal.

It’s the Tele’s understanding this is not the case.

Sources at the club have cited the leak to the press of this incorrect information as “mischief making”.

And they are adamant hitman Hemmings, who has two years left on his contract, will not be leaving Dens unless a huge offer is tabled by any interested party.

It’s believed a number of clubs south of the border have been keeping tabs on the availability of the centre-forward, who netted 25 goals in 42 games for Paul Hartley’s men last season.

Aston Villa, Derby County, Burton Albion, Sheffield United, Leeds United, former club Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers have all been linked in recent months.

But, as they have also done with Greg Stewart this pre-season, the club are issuing a hands-off warning to anyone keen to prise Hemmings away.

Despite only having a year left on his deal, Dundee are believed to be asking for at least £1 million for Stewart. It’s understood they are looking for even more for Hemmings.
