Liam Kennedy: Refreshing approach to expectations at Dens

Recommended Posts

Unrealistic expectations go hand in hand with football, whether it be from fans, players or managers.

That’s definitely not the case at Dundee.

Speaking to players, officials and the manager at the club’s Austria training camp this week, it’s clear to see that they are expecting this season to a tough one, much tougher than it was even last campaign, where the Dark Blues finished in eighth.

They accept finishing in the top six might not happen again.

But you know what? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that approach.

While the aim is to finish as high as possible, there will be no over-reaction if things turn out like they did in the final weeks of last season.

There’s a strange air of calm around Dens Park at the moment, and it’s actually rather refreshing.
