Dundee suffered a defeat away from home to Peterhead and by all accounts look to be out the cup before the knockout stages begin.

Two goals from Rory McAlister in the second half, the first from 25 yards and the from the spot after Bain was judged to have brought down McAlister was enough to see off the Dark Blues. A consolation goal from Greg Stewart just before the full time.

This result means that Dundee are quite possibly out of the Betfred cup and this is on par with the result last year when Dundee were knocked out by Dunfermline 3-1.

Aftermath of that......shambles! Hartley has to get the finger out or we are in for a really long season, been desperate for a centre half all summer. And as for the ggh debacle, nobody can say we are not missing him.

This is totally unacceptable, fed up hearing how we will be aiming for both cups, yet we don't play our best teams in them, these games are not pre-season friendlies and need to waken up to that, I'm sure the owners will be looking at this closely, and wouldn't be surprised if PH is warned about future results like tonight and East Fife

Unforgivable not to get out of that group. Not even at Aberdeen, soaked to the skin mulling over one of the worst Dundee performances/results I've ever seen.

A lot of these performances have come under Paul Hartley. 2-0 from Cowdenbeath, 1-0 at Morton, 6-0 and 5-0 at Celtic, 6-2 from United, 4-1 from United, 4-0 at Inverness, 5-2 at Dingwall, 4-0 at Ibrox, 3-1 at Dunfermline, losing to East fife and Peterhead.

These results - losing to absolute dross or taking hammering are happening far too often. Questions need to be asked of Paul Hartley. This can't keep happening without repercussions. It's happening far too often - yet somehow folk still justify no matter what.

I don't think you'll find too many justifying tonight's result at all...
This was too close to the bone.

This needs answers more than
"We were the far better side. We dominated the game but never managed to kill it off"

Just got bad feelings. Don't think signings are that inspiring, the Harkins thing and so many injuries already. Few things like that just make you concerned for the season ahead. Lack of movement on the transfers is also worrying.

on my way back from the match..... not happy at all with hte result and some thing needs to be done or i dread tae think what will happen i august when the season starts.

only thing worse than the pissin rain (soaked tae the skin) was how we played tonight.

some of our fans need to take a look at themselves with the way they had a go at the players though..... i blame the manager for tonights result

Horrible result tonight but we're a yo-yo club that can't stay in the top tier. Hartley, for all the grim scorelines we've suffered, manages to do enough to keep us up. Maybe if our recent history wasn't so bad, we'd be in a position to tell Hartley the job he's doing isn't good enough.

We keep coming back to the same concern.

We need a defence.
We sign attackers.

We need a defence
We sign a midfield.
 (repeat)

I've been a staunch PH supporter, but my patience is running very very low.

Where exactly is Hartley taking us?

The defence has been a shambles for years now and shows no sign of being improved. The cup results season on season after talking up the importance of them in public are an embarrassment. The defeats to lower league clubs. The humpings. Home attendances down.

What do fans who defend him to the hilt see us doing this season. Already as good of out an easy League Cup group before August. Still leaking goals for fun. Harkins frozen out. Hemmings not required tonight.

Can't see us finishing anywhere near top 6 this season and we won't be near any cup runs with only one competition left and our record in them.

Not topping a group containing Peterhead, East Fife, Forfar and Dumbarton is completely unacceptable.

I know we were sh*t for years but this is 2016 and we appear to be going nowhere if not backwards.

A very poor start to the season and not good enough.

You must be kidding.

Ignore our history. Is this good enough.

No it's not good enough but after Duffy we have to stomach crap cup results as long as we're doing ok in the league. Otherwise we'll end up stuck in the second tier for years and facing admin 3.
