Dundee striker Kane Hemmings has completed a move to Oxford United.

The star frontman has signed a three-year deal with the League One side after the clubs agreed what is believed to be a six-figure transfer fee.

A statement issued this evening said: “Dundee Football Club can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with Oxford United for the transfer of Kane Hemmings for an undisclosed fee.

“Kane signed for the club last summer and had an outstanding season in front of goal. He netted 25 goals in all competitions and was rewarded by being nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year.

“Kane leaves Dens Park with the best wishes of everyone at Dundee FC.”

Oxford head coach Michael Appleton was pleased to welcome Hemmings to the Kassam Stadium.

He said: “Kane is the proven goalscorer that we’ve talked about and he enjoyed a fantastic season last year.

“There were a few clubs looking at him but we have talked to him, told him what we are about down here in Oxford and we are delighted to welcome him to the club.

“Credit to the chairman and the board who have backed the deal and allowed us to bring Kane in.”

It never rains, it pours for Dundee. Have a feeling that undisclosed fee might have been £250k. Nothing confirmed yet, of course

The player told the Oxford Mail that he was “delighted” with the move.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting going.

“Oxford are an ambitious club with an ambitious manager and a good squad – I watched them in the JPT final last season.

“Everything about the club just seems right.

“You like a manager who can develop a player to the best of their ability, hopefully I will be another one of those players and I can succeed here by scoring some goals.”
