Proof We Are Being Run Properly

Recommended Posts

Even though last few weeks haven't been great, putting a positive spin on it - does it show we are being run properly??

Unfortunate as it is the harkins incident  kept in house, o hara/yordi transfers kept quiet until sealed, bullish talk re selling players to maximise value!!!

Spending money that we haven't got, spiralling into debt and still no winning anything is much more exciting though.:bop:

True!! Even the clause situation despite obvious best attempts of the agent to make it public knowledge, nobody was certain until Wednesday if it existed or not. Previously the way club was run this would have been confirmed months ago on one of the forums. Maybe frustrating for fans not hearing much but its best way to run a club!!

I very much agree.

I do admit I was in a state of near complete panic for the past couple of days, fearing the worst after peterheid, the Gowser incident (which turned out to be a non-incident really) and then the Hemmings sale for peanuts never mind the GGH thing. So much bad news in, what, 48 to 72 hours? I am not surprised it sent a lot of us over the edge given Dundee fans general outlook on our club especially when its bad news!

But, after reading the articles from Nelms and Hartley it has put my mind at ease. They tried their best to deny the Hemmings clause even if it meant lying to the fans and why wouldn't they? Would anybody expect them to say "Look hear other clubs, we have a boy that's scored 25 goals and he is available for £250K", I highly doubt it. He was probably worth between £1 to £2 million maybe a bit more after another great season if he stayed, but if we didn't agree to the clause we would have missed out on 25 goals, £250K and possibly our Premiership place last season. I am in no means happy with the transfer but as Nelms and Hartley said, its the harsh reality clubs like us have to live in.

I think as a club we have to work on our PR, communication and marketing which again isn't overly surprising given the likes of Nelms and Keys are still fairly inexperienced and I am sure it will improve over the coming months and hopefully years. Other than that the past couple of years we have seemed to go about the rest of our business quietly and efficiently which is very good and refreshing.

If nothing else it has given our dayglo pals over in la-la land a good laugh for a couple of days after a year or so of misery, but I am sure that will change when they are getting pumped by Queen of the South next week in the "cough" Championship.B)

The proof we are being run properly will become more apparent in a few years when we see clubs bidding big to capture home grown talent like Kerr and Wighton.

When we rely on players coming in from elsewhere, there are always going to be risks of them putting in clause's or seeing out there contracts. In the meantime, we have to assume the club is being run properly because we are bringing in players that other clubs want to buy after a season or two with us.

We just aren't familiar with players being sold as part of day to day football business. We have got too familiar with fire sales when we are desperate for money. I don't think this is the case anymore. I think the club for the first time in decades is being run as a viable business. Nothing  more, nothing less.

Eh'm no sae sure aboot that  comment Rev ..... But eh'll gie ye this ......It wis mair exciting, than meh full painful night o' tooth-ache !!

Emergency call tae the dentist this morning Offending tooth noo been ripped oot :(

If it goes on like this, I'm gonna lose meh winsome smile :) Doon tae meh last  four.

Ither people might see meh tomato crop failure & meh teeth fa' in' oot as coincidence.

But eh think there might be a relationship between this  & the sale o Kane Hemmings.

If there is a connection, does that mean when Stewart goes, anither tooth fa's oot !! :lol2:

(To back to topic question, I really don't know)  But gut feeling is, we could do better.

how long do you think there has there been a relationship between disaster at Dens and the health of your teeth. If you are down to your last 4 this might be a real worry. go and get your self a set of geggies and that would help secure the club, and restore your good looks.

I can't believe I have responded to this - just shows the concern for our club caused by a whole load of gossip.Must say congratulations to John Nelms for the statements in the Courier. it makes the ET attempts to get the story out before the Courier look a bit like internal fighting. PH also came out very well, IMO, and i think we can look on this as proof that there is merit in trying to sign players who have potential and bring them on.

The last set of accounts showed a 200k loss, probably more for last year due to failure in cups and not making Top 6. As long as Keyes puts the money in we are fine.

Those accounts were the ones referring to the 14/15 season. Need to wait a wee while before we find out the cost of last season.

Hi BC ....  (Priorities first)     Eh'm actually daein nae bad on the auld teeth front. Even coontin' the ain oot this morning, eh've still got maist o' the bottom ains.

& a wee denture plate to go wi' a few o' meh ain gnahers on tap. It was maybe a bit severe blaming DFC for meh dental problems.

But they do have a lot tae dae wi my, up & doon mental problems over the course o meh lifetime. Is it no great supporting DFC

With regard to Ph & JN I have covered that in another post. But I agree they both handled a bad situation well in video statements.

I think the suddeness of the Hemmings situation, shocked & hurt us all (plus the transfer fee involved)  Now we get on with it
