Seen on P&B few Partick lads saying he's off to Brechin on loan for a bit. Anyone heard anything? Another guy said Lochee United also wanted him for a month or so as well but doubt that one is true.

ETA: Brechin have confirmed on Twitter he's off on loan to them.

Paul Hartley on Wighton:

Next year is the time for Craig to really push on, he has fantastic talent and I think next year will be a big year from him.

“I see him day-in, day-out and I think his quality is on the ball. He has terrific talent, he’s a real team player but he’s still only 17 so the future’s really bright for him.

“His vision (is his main strength,), his ability to see something and get by players. His finishing is very good also. There’s a different side to his game he needs to work on also, the defensive side, but from an attacking point of view I think he has everything in his locker.

“He’s a quiet lad, he’s a lad who wants to learn. He has a terrific attitude and is a really down to earth kid.â€

Good decision.

Let the lad play week in week out against men who earn an extra £100 a week to win and will do everything to get it. He will learn miles more than pissing around in the development league.

Great prospect but not a regular starter yet IMO.

Next season we will see a first XI dfc player in the way a loan spell benefitted Fozzy and savo .

On Dee site now.

Link.

Think it's a good deal personally. He'll learn how to deal with the rough and tumble and as Hartley says, if he can work on his defensive duties then great.

It's the same league as the one Cammy Kerr will be playing in and Stevie May started in with Alloa and a league above the one Carriero was playing in, so don't get the 'He won't learn anything in a pish league' argument.

We can't keep him around and not play him, he has to develop and he won't do that with the development league alone (remember how good McIntosh looked at that level?).

Hopefully, he'll get a good couple of months under his belt before returning a much better player.

Would rather have him starting than Boyle or Roberts at the moment.

Boyle gives pace and nothing else, whilst Roberts is failing to impress at moment.

I'm fairly happy about this deal. League One is better than under 20s. Wighton is a class act and this might help his development.
