Wasn't sure it was 4-4-2 yesterday. Someone said 4-2-3-1 earlier, that looked more like the formation.

Looked more like that to me as well.

Duffy was seldom up alongside Yordi - even dropping deep enough to pick up the ball from Bain once, while Williams (who I liked the look of) and Stewart were also allowed to push into the box, with Gowser (although he did push on as well) and Vincent holding.

As ever with PH, the real width came from the FBs not the midfield.

Is it only me that get's confused wi all these new fangled formations ?

Sometimes (quite often) eh yearn for the old days, when the players

came oot & played, whit I think, is now called the pyramid formation,

1-2-3-5 And even the shirt numbers corresponded with their positions.

Oh aye, & basically every gemme kicked aff at 3.00pm on Saturday.

And attendances were in the thousands We awe stood in the snaw,

rain in the muddy terraces. Nae lavvy complaints as we all enjoyed

a relieving half time pee ahent the South Stand. That wis on oor way

to change ends, while at the same time, efter wiping oor hands on

oor breeks efter peein' (You see we werenae total tinks) we queued

up for wir pehs. And decent pehs they were then as weel (whitever

it wis they pit inside them)   OK enough o' awe that

Does evevry modern fan totally understand these team formations?

Can we no just change from names on the back of shirts to just STRIKER, GOALIE, DEFENDER etc. Would mak things a hell of a lot easier.
