Dundee were this afternoon completing the signing of striker Faissal El Bakhtaoui.

As the Tele revealed on Friday the Dark Blues reopened talks with the 23-year-old former Dunfermline hit man after losing last season’s top scorer Kane Hemmings to Oxford.

Today El Bakhtaoui ended a two-week trial at English Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers to travel to Dens Park for a medical and to discuss personal terms.

And by late afternoon he was ready to put pen to paper on a deal to make him a Dundee player.

The French Moroccan scored 30 goals in 41 appearances for the Pars last term before leaving under freedom of contract.

His decision to go led to talks with a number of clubs including Dundee, Motherwell and St Johnstone, as well as his spell with Blackburn Rovers.
