With the season about to start, just wondering where folk think we'll end up come next May.

Went 6th but can see another tight one (fnarr fnarr), think we'll be 'mid table' and if we make the top 6 I'd consider that a good result, make a cup final (options narrowing on that front) and I'd consider it a great season.

As much as I would love to think we would finish 5th, I would be surprised if it happened.

For a start, there is Celtic, The Rangers and Hearts who I think will probably be in the first 3 spots, then you have St Johnstone and Motherwell who I think will grab 4th and 5th. You then have Ross County and IUnverness who tend to hit around 'middle' of the table, which leaves Partick, Hamilton and Kilmarnock at the bottom.

We really need to be taking points away from Inverness, Ross County, Hamilton, Partick Th and Kilmarnock if we have any chance of hitting six or above, and I honestly cannot see us doing that all the time. I personally would settle for eighth place this season.

We've sold our star striker and had a miserable early League Cup exit and yet we're all expecting another comfortable season in the top flight. I think that's a sign that things are looking good for the Dee. We have our bad weeks and we just get on with in. No need for a crisis.

I think the top 4 are pretty much a done deal, the middle 4 should include us but there are no guarantees. like you I'll be happy with 8th, but this early I can dream of 6th, its doable with a bit of a tail wind.

Tbf I think it's hard to say confidently how well we'll do because we still don't know whether or not Stewart's staying & we don't have a single striker who's really proved themselves in the top flight. A couple of games in we'll get a better idea of how we're sitting and the kind of season we can expect.

Top six would be a great achievement though, in the strongest league for a good while.

Loy started well last season and no reason why he can't recapture that form. We've got a couple of hard games to start, we always seem to struggle up at Dingwall and our first home game is against one of the teams I expect to be top 4 (top 2 if I'm honest) so maybe a few more games to see where we stand. I'll not lose my sh1t if we're on nil poi after 2 games.

Yeah fair points, I should have said the matches against the like of Thistle, Killie etc will give us a better idea.
