Rory Loy is on fire, says Dundee boss

Rory Loy is on fire and Premiership defences should be terrified, according to Dundee boss Paul Hartley.

The former Rangers, Falkirk and Carlisle United man has started this campaign like he did the last, by hitting the goal trail.

The 28-year-old netted twice in the Dark Blues’ curtain raiser in Dingwall, taking his tally for the season to three.

And Dark Blues gaffer Paul has the strong belief that Loy can fill the gap left behind by Kane Hemmings, who left for Oxford a fortnight ago in a £250,000 deal.

“He started last season on fire and he has done this one,” said Paul of Loy, who scored nine in his debut season, seven of which came in the first nine games.

“Hopefully, he can continue his run of scoring.

“Last year he got off to a good start then got some injuries. Because of Kane’s form and the injuries he never really recovered after that.

“On Saturday, his overall play was great up there on his own. It will give him confidence.”

Loy may not be quite as clinical as Hemmings but the one thing he never fails to do is to keep getting in positions to score.

Paul continued: “Strikers get chances and miss them — that’s what they do. But what they have to do is keep going — that’s what Rory has done.”
