Okay, tin hat on.

We got beat due to a combination of poor tactics, too many players below par and a couple of defensive mistakes.

Had we changed formation before we did, had Yorgi got the ball out of his feet / hit it cleanly and the ref hadn't bottled the sending off, we could (and I feel should) have taken something from today.

Despite everyone's thoughts (mine included) "The" Rangers are not mugs. Granted they have a dodgy defence that we didn't pressurise enough but otherwise, they have some decent players and spent money on them few teams in the league (including themselves) can afford.  Whilst there is a long way to go, like us, they look like they will be in the mix for top six.

Can they play better than today? Maybe. Can we play better than today, definitely.

There were positives today. I didn't feel the crowd were as negative as normal though a bit subdued. Yorgi looks like he will pose teams problems when he gets up to speed and Elbatchou (sp) looks promising.

For a match we lost, I actually enjoyed the game today and am still positive that we are starting to see things come together.

Oh aye, Dumbarton!:lol2:

Decent post. Realistically it would be an unreal showing if we got top 6 this season all things considered therefore we need to handle off days and a variety of the good and the bad. We were always underdogs today and though definitely second best, we could've snuck it late on.

I'll be happy if we we're clear of the bottom two.

Seeing Dundee United's predicament if what could happen if you don't replace the top players you sell. We're doing ok so far.

I am trying to keep my excitement in check about Elbak2e although only on for a short period I thought he looked exceptional. Great touch, movement, speed and is very direct always looking to commit players. I think sort the defence and we could be top half this season.

Yeah, lot's of questions to be asked after today, but it wasn't quite some of the shambles we've seen before and we've come through them OK.

It looked to me like we gave them too much respect as well, which kind of set the tone for the first 45 minutes.

My fear is when we put the same level of performance in against, a Hamilton or a Killie, the fans will turn, it's ok saying, it was Rangers, they have some good players ect, but the first half display was dreadful, we were at home, we should be trying to take the game to them, five in midfield, four playing defensively isn't the way to play at home, has to be 4-4-2, or 3-5-2 against the lesser teams, let's hope PH gets it right from the start on Friday night

The game on Friday against Hamilton is not going to have anything like the atmosphere or crowds of the game against Rangers. Hamiltons travelling support tho' is going to be pretty negligible .... and oors, no surprisingly, will be proportionately down.

But by all account those tjat were there on Saturday, got fully behind DFC, and it's likely the DFC fans & supporters will be in good voice again .... encouraging them to victory. We are not going to become a smooth, cohesive team of players overnigh,t with the recent loss of our two best goal makers/goal scorers. That hurts. But we have to be patient .... I have faith it will all come together. If we scrape through wi' 3 points, with a poor performance, I'd accept that ....(at least at this present time)

Those who can make the game, give again your loyal support. DFC Players, go out there & give your all. VICTORY for the DEE

Friday is big for us. 6/9 points would be a very decent opening return. It's the kind of game that has held us back since we come up - a winnable home match against one of the league's poorer sides. Too often these have ended in draws.

I've been relatively happy with what I've seen so far outwith Saturday's first half. If we'd been offered 2 draws from Dingwall and Rangers we'd have probably taken that. We have 3 points on the board and with a bit of luck and a bit more self belief on Saturday that could have easily been 4.

Agree with this. Said before the season started that 7 points out of our first 3 games would be exceptional, so getting 6 would be bloody good. Even a draw against Hamilton wouldn't be the end of the world, but it also wouldn't be any improvement from last season. Hopefully we'll get the 3 points we need next season, with a few really winnable games coming up!
