When Darren O'Dea was fouled by Forester on Saturday why did he have to go off the pitch?

I thought the new rules where when the player that fouls you gets booked you don't need to leave the field.

Said that on Saturday as well, then remembered it was Craig thomson, his rules differrent to everyone else's

Because we were playing against Rangers and the ref had to give them every assistance, even after our poor first half performance

Stated before the player decides if he wants to go off and he also decides when he comes back on.

I believe when the rule clamping down on play-acting came into being the 'injured' player didn't have to leave the park if the opponent was booked.  Not sure if it was ever changed but would be interested to know the correct history of that rule though.  I'm sure many referees don't know either!!!

Thomson is a walloped right enough but you need to go far to get a bigger tw*t than the guy who was in charge at ICT v Ross.

I said the same thing when he went off and came back on but if it was O'Deas choice then what could the ref do. Maybe O'Sea forgot the new rule

My understanding is the same as Kemback1997 and the player that commits the foul needs to be booked for the "injured" player to stay on the pitch. Clearly if the ref was doing his job then D O'D would have been allowed to stay on the pitch and wave bye bye to Forrester.

Forrester was booked. It was fouls on Kerr and Duffy that he got away with.
