Dundee 1-1 Hamilton: Dark Blues miss chance to go top

Dundee missed the chance to go top of the table – for one night at least – as they shared a couple of early goals with Hamilton Accies on a damp, dreich night at Dens Park.

Faissal El Bakhtaoui made his first start in dark blue and fashioned an early chance as he found James Vincent out wide – Loy slid to meet his cross but Remi Matthews made a good save.

There was nothing in the game when Hamilton grabbed the lead after 13 minutes. Darren Lyon found space on the edge of the Dundee area and smashed a great strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

Their lead didn’t last long, though, as the again-impressive Mark O’Hara netted his second goal in two games, sweeping in Danny Williams’ corner with a low volley.

In the second half, Accies missed a glorious chance when Darian MacKinnon was clean through only to prod wide.

Minutes later, Rory Loy had a half-chance the ball fell to him in the area but he could only hit straight at the keeper from an angle.

Williams flashed a shot wide from inside the box midway through the second period but despite plenty of effort from both sides, neither could find a late winner.

Line-ups:

Dundee: Bain, Holt, Vincent, O’Dea, Kerr, Williams, O’Hara, Etxabeguren, Ross, El Bakhtaoui, Loy

Hamilton: Matthews, Devlin, Gillespie, Imrie, D’Acol, Crawford, Longridge, MacKinnon, Donati, Lyon, Sarris
