Motherwell 0-0 Dundee: Dark Blues pick up hard-earned point

Dundee picked up a hard-earned point at Fir Park as they held Motherwell to a goalless draw in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock but quality in the final third was lacking from both sides.

The home side made the early running at Fir Park but it was the Dark Blues who came closest in the opening stages. Faissal El Bakhtaoui cracked a shot from a tight angle straight at Craig Samson before seeing his follow-up blocked inside the six-yard box.

On the half-hour mark, Scott McDonald flashed a 25-yarder just over and for the rest of the first period it was the home side in charge but without testing Scott Bain.

After the break, Bain was finally tested by veteran striker Scott McDonald’s fierce effort from 25 yards and then minutes later El Bakhtaoui and then Michael Duffy flashed low efforts just past the post.

Dundee were much-improved in the second half after a fairly poor first but couldn’t find a way through the Motherwell defence and in the end had to settle for a point.
