Everyone is desperate for a winter break. Then when we get one, we'll be bored shittless, players will say they can't wait to get back playing and managers will be saying their teams are rusty after the break.

And there'll be ten feet of snow in December and February....

I've never been one for "summer football" and a winter break to be honest. Quite like the winter games in the early nights but think I'm in the minority with that one:lol: I know I'll be bored anyway :(

Must admit I'm exactly the same mate. I know that it's odd to say, but there's something about sitting in the freezing cold under the lights. Even the players say there's more atmosphere under the lights.

Most summer football would feel like friendlies with the tiny wee away supports that bother these days, but like you, I know I'm in the minority.

No football in January. Christ that is going to be grim.

We've always played through the winter in Scotland. I don't see any need to change things. Summer is when we play major international tournaments.

I think we will still have a Scottish Cup tie in between, but yeah I agree, going to be a boring month for us all:mellow:

I must be part of your minority also mate. I agree with Barkblue about the atmosphere under the lights. I much prefer it to sitting watching a game in daylight for some bizarre reason. Just feels right.

Nope. Summer football for me. Freezing my nuts aff, watching rubbish football on a rubbish pitch is not my idea of entertainment

You see just as many rubbish games at major international tournaments in the summer, on perfect pitches on nice warm days, as you do on cold, driech days in the Scottish leagues.

Each to their own mate.

I think changing to summer football is the worst thing that can happen to Scottish football. We are already struggling to get fans to buy season tickets (as we have seen this season) and i think summer football would result in even less sales. Yes, it would be warmer, and perhaps a much more comfortable watch, but in the summer football clubs have a lot more competition.

For example, playing in summer you are competing with the golf season. I know a lot of people don't play golf, but a Saturday afternoon is the most popular time for golf, and IMO a lot of people would choose to go play golf for the afternoon than watch Dundee v Hamilton. I wouldn't , but I know a lot of people who would.

Also, you are competing with summer holidays. A lot of people probably wouldn't see the value in buying a season ticket if they knew they were going to miss 2 or 3 games because of holidays/ family days out etc.

There are much more important things needing addressed in Scottish football right now IMO, and this  should not be a priority.
