Hospitality Of The Dabs

A few of my mates are Raith Rovers fans and a couple of them live in the city. At the weekend they were heading to Tanadice for the game and I joined them for a few pints. One of the lads lives on Albert Street so they were having a Stobie pub crawl taking in Harlequins, Dexy’s, Windsor Bar, Balmore, Stobswell Bar and Four Js. The local “hospitality" from the dabs was nothing short of horrendous. Most of the bars were nice with a few staff saying they hoped Rovers win. However not a single dab dared make conversation despite my mates trying to get some chat going, instead they just gave dirty looks and stayed in their cliques.

The Four J’s however takes the biscuit. When we went into the pub the bar man screamed (and I mean screamed) “Take your scarves off if you want served in this pub.” The scarves came off, although the boys still were wearing Rovers tops! The barman stormed off while some p*ssed weasel at the side of the bar started yelling “this is a Yinited pub, you cannae come in with the other teams scarves on!” The boys just left after that. There was no banter in the voices orfaces of these screaming banshees, just pure aggression.

The boys thought that Dundee was a friendly city (well one half is). They couldn’t believe the hostility towards away fans from the dabs. As a Dundonian I was thoroughly embarrassed, the behaviour of these arseholes was a disgrace to the city. Only consolation is that the miserable faced gits in the Four Js will be greeting into their cloudy pints as their team went 2-0 up and still f**ked it up. In my time as a Dee we have always been welcoming to away fans and actually hit them up with some chat in the pubs. Nothing surprises me with those cretins across the road.

Three words sum them up.

Delusions of grandeur.

Had the exact same experience in there mate. Went in on a Sunday, wasn't a match day, wearing a top of the team I coach, a boys team, and had some boy in my face about how I shouldn't be wearing it in a Utd pub. A boys team?! Incredible.
