Does anybody really care about the National team ? Personally I obviously want us to win but much prefer domestic football. I love watching the Euros and World Cup but am fed up with us failing to get to the finals time and time again. Hopefully this time we will qualify but I'm not holding my breath.

I can't get excited about the Malta game on Sunday.

Hate international breaks during the domestic season.

This one is always the worst every year as you've just got going and it stops for a fortnight.

Couldn't care less about international football. Only watch the tournaments every 2 years now and pretty much nothing else.

We have a summer break in between each major tournament, I'd like us to implement qualifying in here. Don't see why it can't be done.

If we did that the players that play for countries that qualify to the majority of tournaments wouldn't really get a proper rest

From memory the internationals were introduced at the weekend to try to stop numerous call-offs due to injury.

However that has not been a success as there are still lots of call-offs due to a supposed injury yet the "injured" players are usually able to play for their clubs the following weekend.

The solution is for the football authorities responsible for their national team to enforce the rule that if a player withdraws from the national team due to injury then they cannot play for their own club the following weekend.

Personally speaking I would revert to playing the international matches on a Tuesday/Wednesday as happened in the past. There would be no breaks for league programme which could finish at the end of April giving the players at decent summer holiday and a chance to recharge their batteries.
