Martin (goal-less in 14 games for his club) starts. Perhaps Fletcher is goal-less in more games?.

Gordon Strachan: "We equipped ourselves incredibly well in the last group." Fourth = Incredibly well.

He's lost the phucking plot :(

Maybe working on the wild hope that he's got to score sometime and tonight might be that night. Got a bad feeling about this game. Hope to feck I'm wrong.

Oliver Burke became Scotland's most expensive player a few days ago. Naturally, he's given his first ever international start tonight.

Strachan will be thinking, "This guy cost £13m. He must be good. I better start playing him."

Well done to Callum Paterson, the sole representative from our league in the starting XI. You must be a special talent if you're playing north of the border and considered good enough to start for the national team.

Arrogant Strachan should be sacked immediately after this game regardless how it finishes.

Henley and Martin should never be near this squad.

Unless we bring in two decent central defenders, we are wasting our time.

Who would play in your team? Hanley and Martin aren't the best but we're really short on quality central defenders. I don't think we have much choice to be honest.

Great result and some good performances. You can only beat what's put in front of you. Malta have shown recently they are no whipping boys and I had a definite fear for this game before the start. Contract extension for wee Gordy tomorrow or a knighthood at the very least.

Wonder if Snodgrass has realised yet what he's missed out on by not signing for DFC all those years ago.

Snodgrass really is the one that got away. What a difference he would have made to Dundee, even if we'd probably only have held on to him for a season or two. That's probably the closest we've come to being in a position to sell a player for £5m.

Malta might be below American Samoa and the Cook Islands in the Fifa rankings but some of our performances were very encouraging. Aside from Snodgrass, Burke, Ritchie and Bannan looked quality. I suppose we'll find out next month whether we're serious contenders for going to Russia.
