good read, and I'm not trying to dampen the occasion at all, but would United not have gone down even without that goal from Wighton? I'm pretty sure a draw was enough to officially relegate them.

Indeed. Obviously, when Craig scored with about 2 minutes to go, that was it done, because they'd obviously not be able to get 2 in injury time. Kosta's goal would've been enough though.

Watched the last half hour back on my sky plus box last night. It won't be getting deleted any time soon.

They were relegated with the draw but seeing young Craig hammer a final, final nail in the coffin will live with me forever.

Relegating United was great and a feeling enjoyed by all good Dees but to suggest it's better than winning a major trophy is nonsense IMO. Give me the Scottish Cup any day; although obviously it would be better if we could win it with a final against them at Hampden.

Well the thing is, those of us under the age of 43 currently don't know whether it feels better than winning a major trophy.

All I know is that Dundee relegating Dundee United in that manner eclipsed everything else for me. There have been great games and great moments, and great derby wins, but I can't think of another moment that's been so enduringly brilliant. There hasn't been another single moment that, months later,  still manages to thrill me, delight me – and, frankly, sexually arouse me –like when Wighton's grasscutter threaded the needle through all those legs and the ball squirmed in and suddenly all those years of slaggings and the ghosts of the past just evaporated and it felt like a feckin exorcism or a curse being lifted or something and I'm sorry if that sounds over-dramatic but that's how it felt to me!

YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

As the Dabs are finding out, winning the Championship is more difficult than winning a cup.

So IMO we have seen a major trophy win at Dens lately, just ask Hibs and Rangers how difficult the Championship is.

I would never class winning Div1 as a major trophy
I would never use it in an argument against other fans as DFC should never be in Div 1
