This is not really what I wanted to hear. We need a right-back, not a midfielder. After O'Hara this is the second right-back we've signed this summer who wants to play in midfield.

If Hateley joined Dundee on the premise that he'll be a box-to-box midfielder then Hartley might have created a bit of a problem for himself. Will be interesting to see where he plays on Saturday.

I agree Cobra

we are now at the desperate stage for an RB I would say and have sufficient centre mids. If he plays there, whilst being a step up on what we had, you would have to question how wise it was to spend wages strengthening that position

If his comments are a true representation of his thoughts then I can see him playing r/mid in front of Cammy on Sat. It's then up to Cammy to either lose or keep the jersey. A three at the back with Hateley and Holt as w/backs might be the compromise here. Whatever PH decides the signing of Hateley now gives us loads of options.

Have I missed something?  How come after a decent start to the season and only  4 games  played, we are " desperate " for a right back yet we played a full season last year with an average left back?

I'm not wanting to slaughter Cammy because he's a dee with a faultless attitude but I think he is struggling just now and could do with a rest. If we persist with him there just now I think it will be to the laddies detriment and no one wants that.

For what it's worth I thought we stuck with holt a bit too long last season also. However I also think he's started this season very well

Doesn't matter what Hateley sees as his best position, as a professional footballer he will play where the manager sees him making he best contribution. As a Dundee player he'll make a slight mistake early in his time here and somebody in The Coxy will decide he's sh**e and give him pelters for the duration of his contract - it's just the way it is.

I don't think you even need to make any sort of mistake for some of these nuggets to tell you you're shyte.  Some boys will have decided this the minute he signed and will not be swayed.

"Your grandfather was shyte, your father was shyte and you're shyte"
