Kilmarnock boss disappointed with Dundee draw

Kilmarnock manager Lee Clark insists it is a sign how far his side have come that they left Dens Park with a sense of disappointment following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Dundee.

Killie equalised through Souleymane Coulibaly thanks to his memorable 31st-minute overhead kick after Faissal El Bakhtaoui had given the hosts a seventh-minute lead.

Clark felt his team, who only just avoided relegation back in May through the play-offs, had it in them to go on and clinch all three points had they been more clinical.

But the Killie gaffer believes it shows they are on the right track having held the Dark Blues to a draw.

Clark said: “Normally when you come to a place like this a draw would be a positive result but we’re a little bit disappointed.

“I think that’s a good sign. It’s got to be positive.

“All credit to the boys. They’ve done some really good things this season which gives me encouragement.

“To think that we’re frustrated then because of the results speaks a lot for the players in our dressing room.

“Hopefully we can build on it over the coming weeks and get some positive results.”

True, but if Hartley said after the Rangers game "We're disappointed we didn't win the game and that shows how far we've come" I'd think he was full of hot air given that we never came close to winning.

I've got to say I don't really pay much attention to the newspaper stories. What a manager says in public might well be different to how he actually feels or says to the players. Some seem to enjoy the media side of things, I don't think PH is one of them however.

I don't pay much attention to newspaper stories myself but when your manager says something that suggests he's out of touch with reality I think it's a bad sign. Some of the things Mixu was coming out with... you just knew he was going to lose the dressing room.

Very much playing devils advocate but if a manager says one thing to the papers and then goes back to the dressing room and says "you should see the bollox I told that reporter, LOL" then he maybe wouldn't lose the dressing room. Its all academic really, especially in Mixu's case. :lol2:
