PH Signings

I have been very underwhelmed by the signings this year and how they fit into the team. Vincent, Williams Duffy, have not shown much, El Bak runs around a lot but has no support, Ohara started well but looks lost in a position that i am not sure where he plays. I hope it is just time settling in a new team, but I am really worried that players are brought in with no real plan how they will form a team. Gomis is still to be tested to make an opinion though as a centre half easier to find his place.  Keep hearing PH has an eye for a player but not convinced. For every Stewart how many other flops have their been?

6 games into the league campaign  and boys have made their mind up on players.

If we had done the same at this stage last season Hemmings would have been binned. If we'd done the same at this stage 2 seasons ago Greg Stewart would never have made it either.

Vincent has not long come back from an injury and hasn't played for months prior due to a falling out with Yogi - he'll need time to get match sharp so judging him now is pointless.

El Bak is a player so not sure why he's on your list.

Mark O'Hara was the saviour 2 weeks ago, now he's not good enough?

Williams hasn't done enough for me going forward but brings a good balance to the side and again has only had 4 or 5 matches.

Duffy again limited game time but looks good in flashes, sh**e in others - still too early to be branded a poor signing.

Gomis has looked the part so far as well - not sure how he's not been tested yet? Seems your just looking for ways to moan tbh.

Yordi is in my opinion the only signing that looks out of his depth but again it's maybe too early to judge and in Hartleys defence he admitted he was signed with next season in mind rather than this one. That of course is just my opinion before the Yordi lovers get in their high horse!

I like Hateley but he wasn't really what we were needing. O'Hara isn't a number 10, and shouldn't be playing in that role. Get him deeper and allow him to use his engine to go box-to-box like Gav Rae in his younger days and we'll have a player there. His energy could be useful making deep, late runs into the box and getting beyond the striker. Williams is a tricky one, because we need width and at times he's looked OK but he doesn't seem confident enough to run at the full back and try to take them on, which is funny because he looks to have a bit of pace and a good left foot. Vincent seems a pointless signing when he does the exact same job as Ross and McGowan and has a questionable injury record. Gomis looks solid and El Bak looks a quality player who would benefit from playing in the hole alongside a target man. Yordi looks raw and I'm still not really sure if he's up to it but it's a big step up for him so I'll cut him some slack. Overall I think they've been quite good.

I note my post has been moderated de to an insult to the OP - I can't remember what I said but it wasn't my intention to single anyone out for an insult so apologies to you if it seemed that way EuanG.

O'Hara was again one of our better players on Sunday so I'm not sure where the histrionics over his performance have come from - he was a threat at set pieces (albeit he only met one and it went over), he was driving the midfield forward and had arguably our best attempt at goal with a lovely turn and volley. He was putting in a fair few tackles as well and pressuring the Dons players all over the park.

3 year deals for the ict boys looks folly at this stage.

El bak looks promising. Gomis looks strong. Jury's out on o'hara for me after a promising start.

Duffy seems to disappear from games as does Williams. Vincent looks a bit meh.

To be fair to Duffy, I'd say he had an excellent 90 minutes against Ross County and an excellent 45 minutes against Motherwell. Fell out of the Rangers game but it's not really surprising that he's not going to be that consistent when he's playing at this level for this first time. I'm actually pretty excited about him from what I've seen tbh and I'll probably be his fan boy for the season.

Inverness boys probably had the highest expectations so have been underwhelming but got a bit of faith that we'll get a bit of use from them. Don't turn into bad players overnight.

I am in any way offended by people who have differing opinions than me. I like to learn from others how they see the game. We cant all agree on football but all support Dundee. I just doubt some of the signings and some of the selections. I also dont think PH can do no wrong but wish him and the Dees well. No offense taken Bubster whatever you said.
