These Auld Timers On Tdb, Gie Them A Space On Their Own !!

Nothing against these Auld Posters really ....  But eh think they should hae a wee section on the forum whar they can blether on & on & on, and reminisce aboot their guid auld days, on their own, or even to each ither, tae their hearts content.......... And in the process o' doing so, pit good informative threads, well off-topic :( And eh've got to sae this ...That Gedee is the Worst for this :)

I hope, as one of the young lads on here ;) in putting this suggestion forward, I am not offending those of the older persuasion. Because I realise I'll get auld mehsel some far-off day.

I'm sure most of you realise, I am trying to make a genuine serious point. But in a slightly humorous fashion. But to go back to the serious point I am trying to make here ....just puting to others (including Admin)   Would it not be better to maybe increase the section within TDB forum to allow other off- beat topics to be introduced away from the main topics. I am aware that we already have some limited headings. And even this one, under "General Chat" is maybe more than enough for the purpose.

But I am aware, that I may well be the biggest culprit for taking some threads off-topic .... Either by my mad trips to fantasy land, or find something within the main topic that triggers me into distant past memories. And to be honest, I would understand why this could offend other posters     The idea of a separate section, is maybe to avoid this kind of thing. But if it was around past times, it should NOT be exclusive to just those of a certain age.     Even if this idea is no to everyone's liking, maybe there should be a section (imo) for the bannal, bazaar, mad & ridulous stuff :lol2:

Maybe the real question is simple and basic .... Just how much does it bother other posters, when threads go off-topic?

I don't think there needs to be a section for the old timers. If posters don't want to read said posts or start reading them and get bored with them just stop reading. That's what I do. :)

But  I've no objection to a section for the old timers or a section for whoever wants a section. Maybe we should all be sectioned for posting on here

I think my main concern was, how easy it is to put (unintentionally) a good thread off-topic ....and I'd accept it must upset others.Especially the person who started the topic. I do find myself hardly able to contain myself at time, when something loosely connected to  the main topic, goes through meh heid, and I then feel I might as well add this anyway ....

Then before eh ken whit's happened, the whole thread has went off-topic.  (Sometimes for the better mind) :)

I'm no sure just what I mean aboot a separate section for old-timers etc. But as said I'm aware o goin' off-topic.

Gedee, why should the wisdom of old timers not be shared with the more youthful posters on this forum? The moderators can bring any topic back on theme with a contribution of their own. It will be easy for them because, as everyone knows old people lose their short term memory and are very easy to distract .........

what were we talking about???
